Geography of New Zealand

New Zealand has glacier, fiord, steep mountains, plains, hills, primeval forests, volcanoes, white beach. What a strange!

New Zealand consists of two big islands,
South Island nd North Island. In north Island, there are 9 volcanoes. In South Island, Southern Alps and Mt. cook which is the highest mountain of that. Its official name is “Aoraki” which means “cloud of peak” in Maori.

New Zealand extends on two plate tectonics, the Pacific tectonics and the Australia tectonics. This tectonics has moved, and earthquake and upheaval often happen, so there are a lot of natural dangerous. On the other hands, it makes hot springs and beautiful physiognomy.

Now there are about 150
hot springs in New Zealand, especially they are in South Island, because under the North Island two plate tectonics strike each other.
